The Thames & Kosmos CHEM C1000 set is a great gift for elementary aged students.
This introductory set is made to be simple enough for the youngest learners, but the experiments are fun and exciting enough to keep kids entertained and interested in science for years to come.

By William R. Lux… This was a Christmas present for a 10 year old. The set is well laid out, the supplies well marked, and the containers of the materials are very well designed (always a concern with a chemistry set). The instructions are clear, and work well from introductory to more complex. The experiments are fun, and even introduce a little “magic” which is cool. This is a real chemistry set, and gives kids the feel that they are doing real experiments (which they are) and not just playing. Educationally, the set is very good at introducing concepts in the context of each experiment. It may seem kind of expensive for a beginner kit, but it is a high quality kit. When you compare it to the marginally less expensive “kiddie kits” that are out there, it’s worth it.
Not only are the experiments safe, they are also a good way to inspire young kids to keep learning after the school day ends. The kit is perfect as a gift on a special occasion, or anytime your kids are looking for something new to do.
